Indian takes you there, but not always on time

New Delhi: Twenty per cent of metro flights of Indian Airlines are not on time.
According to Parliament papers, there had been 22.47% routine delays of more than two hours on IC-839 Delhi-Hyderabad flights in the last three months. And of the total number of delays, 5.62% took place due to technical problems, while the remaining 16.85% were attributed to reasons beyond Indian’s control.
The papers further say as the delay or cancellation of one flight might lead to subsequent delays, the flights operating in the evening hours are susceptible to consequential delays/cancellation. These, at times, are beyond the control of the management. Delays were mostly subjected to technical factors like aircraft airworthiness, landing aids & weather conditions.
Indian has on an average 40 flights, which operate out of the Delhi airport on a daily basis. In 2005-06, out of the 36 million domestic traffic handled by airports, Indian’s had a share of 31%.
