Satyam, TCS square off for Qantas applications contract

Sydney: Indian software majors Satyam Computer Services and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) are vying for a multi-million application services contract with Australia's national carrier Qantas.
Satyam has already won an Oracle eBusiness suite application support and maintenance deal that will commence in August.
According to Australian IT, the application services review steering committee met on Friday to begin contract negotiations on the applications deal with both TCS and Satyam. A final decision on outsourcing is expected to be taken only in October.
Australian IT unions say Qantas's offshoring plans are short-term, short-sighted and lack commitment to Australia or to developing skilled IT jobs in Australia.
