Air Sahara to scale Great Wall

New Delhi: The born-again Air Sahara is going for a big leap. Subrata Roy-promoted airlne on Thursday announced plans to fly past the Great Wall this November, becoming the first private Indian carrier to start direct flights to China.
The airline has sought the government nod to start a direct daily operation between Delhi and Guangzhou from November 7, Air Sahara president Alok Sharma said.
"Besides China, two other international destinations - Maldives and Bangladesh - will be added to the Air Sahara network in the winter schedule this year. And, as and when the skies to Pakistan are opened up for private airlines from India, we will operate on this route as well" he said.
This is the first major expansion plan unveiled by the airline since its six-months-in-the-works marriage with larger rival Jet Airways fell through in June this year.
