Airport essential for setting up IT parks: Minister

Gulbarga: Minister for Science and Technology Ramachanadra Gowda said here on Saturday that it was essential to have an airport for establishing an IT park in cities including Gulbarga.
Speaking to the media, Gowda said the IT companies were reluctant to move out to those areas where there is no airport.
"Airport is a basic requirement for setting up an IT park. Therefore, we have to expedite construction of airports even if they are small sized ones," Ramachandra Gowda added.
He said that if the State government invested Rs 1 crore and arranged required land, the Software Technology Park of India and the Union Government would establish an IT park in Gulbarga.
But there was some problem in acquiring land for the airport, he said.
The government has made efforts to construct airports at Hassan and Shimoga, he added.
