Air India victims to receive memorial

Vancouver: A proposed Air India Memorial set for Stanley Park appears to be moving ahead following a Vancouver Park Board public meeting about the project. The very small crowd had no suggestions, and now Park staff plan to draft a proposal for the Board.
Park Commissioner Loretta Woodcock says she was glad to see no opposition or complaints about the plan, "We are embracing diversity in this City. And we're now having a commemoration in Stanley Park and there's no controversy."
The proposed memorial includes the names of the 331 Air India bombing victims etched on a stone wall, built near a new children's playground. Cost of the project is estimated at just under a million dollars.
