New Delhi: State-run carrier Indian on Tuesday said it carried 8.37 lakh passengers on domestic routes in December 2006, surpassing all previous month records.
In percentage terms, this represented a growth of over seven per cent compared to the year-ago period. The airline's international flights also carried a record 2.11 lakh passengers in December 2006 -- a growth of 20 per cent over December 2005.
Almost 45 per cent of Indian's capacity is deployed on its international network.
However, in the months of December and January, Indian supplemented its international capacity by operating flights to carry Haj pilgrims to Jeddah and also to various points within India, a spokesperson for the airline said.
