Traffic to be hit during Aero India

Bengaluru: There is some doubt whether the highway widening work on Bellary Road will be completed before February. If not, it will hamper traffic movement during the international aviation event Aero India, scheduled to begin on February 6 at Yelahanka Air Force Station.
There is extensive construction work going on between Jakkur and Kogilu Cross, with the flyover and highway widening being done simultaneously. The road has been reduced to just two lanes. Traffic police find this inadequate and are demanding that at least three lanes on either side of the highway be open to ease traffic congestion during the air show.
The traffic police have written to the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) to provide three lanes between Jakkur and Kogilu Cross. “The present road condition is not suitable to ferry thousands of cars and buses that throng to the Aero India event and the on-going construction has reduced the highway to just two lanes. We have written to the authorities to speed up the work and clear three lanes by February,” confirmed Mr M. A. Saleem, Addihttp://www.dnaindia.com/mumbai/report_staff-crunch-may-push-up-near-misses-at-mumbai-airport_1781658tional Commissioner of Police (Traffic).
