Karnataka govt signs MoU for Hubli airport expansion


Hubli: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Airport Authority of India (AAI) and the Government of Karnataka (GoK) to develop the Hubli Airport over the next 30 months. Chairman of AAI, VP Agarwal, said AAI is committed to enhance the development at all possible regions with the cooperation of the state government.
Principal secretary of infrastructure development department (IDD), Amita Prasad, who signed the MoU on behalf of GoK, said her department has been cooperative to provide all the infrastructure for rail and airline projects.
“Apart from land acquisition, we provide electricity, water, road and even tax concession from local administration. Because of such concessions, Bangalore has been a sought after destination by foreign countries,” she emphasised. Dharwad MP, Pralhad Joshi, who also heads Airport Advisory Committee, appealed AAI and Civil Aviation Ministry to increase the number of flights operating from Hubli.
