Didi looks to air to attract tourists

Kolkata: If Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee cannot promote Bengal as an industrial hub, she is at least very keen to promote the state as a tourism hub. And for that she knows increasing air connectivity is a major pre-requisite for attracting domestic and foreign tourists.
The Chief Minister drove this point home in a meeting, which she presided over on Wednesday at Writers' and attended by officials from the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Airport Authority of India (AAI), officials of Kolkata airport, representatives of various airlines, tour operators and state government officials.
Mamata's aim was to bring in more airlines to the airport, which has been modernised with the capacity for handling more passengers.
