AAI dry run at new terminal likely tomorrow

Chennai: The new international terminal at Chennai airport that was inaugurated five months ago by vice president Hamid Ansari is yet to be commissioned. Airports Authority of India (AAI), which runs the airport, has planned to conduct a dry run on Thursday to check whether all facilities installed in the new building are in working order.
“We have temporarily scheduled the dummy run for Thursday. We will finalise it only after a meeting with the Airline Operators’ Committee (AOC) on Wednesday,” said airport director H.S. Suresh.
However, he added that the new terminal would be opened for actual operations only in the first week of July. He said the authorities would initially commission departure operations from the new building and later cater to arriving passengers.
