Blamegame over flooded airport: PWD says internal drains at fault

New Delhi: A joint inspection ordered after alleged reverse flow from drains led to waterlogging inside Terminal 3 of IGI Airport on Sunday, resulted in a blamegame as Public Works Department (PWD) claimed that the drainage system was not faulty and the water entered the airport premises since it is on a low-lying area.
The Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) had earlier said the clogged drains around the airport compound led to rain water back-flowing into Terminal 3.
The inspection was undertaken by PWD and DIAL.
The PWD also claimed that the internal drainage system of the airport was unable to handle the water. It has asked DIAL to submit the internal drainage drawings.
