Dentist makes airline pay for losing baggage

Panaji: South Goa's district consumer forum has ordered Deccan Aviation and Kingfisher Airlines to jointly cough up compensation to the tune of 89,010, after they lost the suitcase of a Margao-based lady dentist in 2008.
Observing that the airline company had committed 'gross negligence' and displayed deficiency in services, the forum, constituted by president Jayant S Prabhu and member Savita G Kurtarkar, has given the company until June 30 to make the payment.
Dr Supriya Lolayekar had taken an Air Deccan flight from Goa to Mumbai on February 8, 2008, to attend a dental conference. The flight was delayed by three hours and when she finally arrived at the Mumbai airport, she waited 45 minutes for her suitcase to appear on the baggage carousel. Realizing it was lost, she filed a complaint with the airline staff.
