Mumbai: Concerned over security, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has stopped issuing Temporary Landing Permits (TLP) to private jets registered in foreign countries. Instead, the ministry has asked the crew members of such jets to get an employment visa.
The move has not gone down well with jet operators. They claim that it would severely affect business and tourism from abroad. Also, they said that it is against the Chicago Convention of International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) to which India is a signatory.
According to an estimate, around 24,000 flight movements of non-scheduled aviation is observed in the country per month. Kuldeep Singh Dhatwalia, additional DG, MHA, did not comment on the issue.
Rohit Kapur, president, Business Aircraft Operators Association (BAOA), said: “From this development, MHA seems to be confused.”
