Ahmedabad: SardarVallabhbhai Patel International Airport has some good news for the first time since last September as summer vacations brought back travellers to the airport. Domestic flying increased by about 7% compared to the same month last year, a positive chance for the first time in eight months.
Meanwhile there was a 43% increase in international flier traffic as well. According to AAI data, May this year saw 86,928 international fliers, up from the 60,527 international passengers in May 2012. Meanwhile the airport in May 2013 had 3,55,236 domestic passengers, up from 3,31,905 passengers in May 2012.
Officials said that in April-May 2012, 6,30,960 domestic travellers used the city airport while this number was 6,40,581 passengers in 2013.
