Security beefed up at airport after caller warns of plane hijack

Mumbai: Security at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA) has been beefed up after a threat call was received on Friday at the Air India (AI) call centre wherein the caller, who claimed to be an ISI member, threatened to hijack AI flight on November 28. The caller's location has been traced to Madhya Pradesh (MP).

According to the police sources, a call was received from an unknown number to the AI's call centre situated in Thane. "The caller claimed to be an ISI member and threatened to hijack an AI flight on November 28," said a crime branch officer, requesting anonymity.
Following this, a case was registered against an unknown person at Srinagar police station in Thane under section 505 of the Indian Penal Code for statements conducting to public mischief, police said.
