AAI's artwork initiative receives modest response

The 15-day duration of displaying art-work by the local artists at the Swami Vivekananda Airport since last July is receiving poor response from the artists this year.

With no option left, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) officials are extending the duration to another one month. The first attempt was made with the sculpture works of Jairam Patel known for making sculptures from soap. “Since a handful numbers of artists are approaching us for displaying their works, we thought of extending the period,” said Airport’s Commercial Manager KK Sahu.

Notably, the concept seems similar this month as well as Rashmi Bhalla from Bhilai displaying her paintings on contemporary art covering the essence of nature who had also been allowed to showcase her paintings for the next one month. “I have been putting up my work for display from Thursday. The selection team had liked my creativity. It is due to this reason that they (airport authorities) gave me a chance to continue for one long month,” she said.
