Centre to invest Rs 1,500 cr for Nagpur airport’s upgrade

Nagpur: The central government has decided to invest Rs 1,500 crore to upgrade the city airport and make it an international level one. Union transport minister Nitin Gadkari told a gathering at Nagpur zilla parishad that the tender process was in final stages and work was expected to start soon. Later, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis said that yoga exponent Baba Ramdev's Patanjali Peeth would invest Rs 15,000 crore in setting up food parks in Nagpur, Katol and Amravati.
Gadkari also said that the Mansar-Tumsar state highway would be fully concretized and work on it would begin soon. "The central government is aware of its social responsibilities and has given Rs 9 crore for development of Deekshabhoomi and Rs 10 crore for Kamptee's Dragon Palace Temple. The government is also considering the Rs 99 crore proposal for overall development of Dhapewada temple premises and village. All these projects and many others will lead to overall development of Vidarbha," he said.
