Dedicated terminal for private jets

New Delhi: Aviation services provider Bird Group which is setting up country's first dedicated terminal for private jets in collaboration with Swiss firm ExecuJet Aviation here is expected to invite bids soon for appointing a consultant to design terminal building.

The proposed facility would come up at an investment of USD 20 million and is expected to be up and will be functional in the next three years, sources close to development said.

The proposed terminal is part of the Zurich-headquartered global general aviation leader ExecuJet Aviation's plans to establish maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility and providing Fixed-Based Operation (FBO) services at Delhi airport along with its Indian partner Bird Group.

A fixed-base operator (FBO) is a commercial business granted the right by an airport to operate there and provide aeronautical services such as fuelling, hungering, parking, aircraft rental, aircraft maintenance, flight instruction, among others. MRO refers to maintenance, repair and overhaul.
Sources said that as much as 3.30 acres of land has been acquired at the Delhi airport for the entire project including construction of the dedicated terminal.
