Directorate of Public Health officials inspect Coimbatore airport

Coimbatore: A team from the Directorate of Public Health conducted an inspection at the Coimbatore International Airport on Thursday as part of an initiative to try to prevent spread of the Zika virus.
A five-member team of public health officers, including deputy director Dr S Somasundaram, joint director (vector borne disease control) Dr S Saravanan and city health officer Santosh Kumar, inspected the airport to check if there were mosquito breeding grounds.
The team inspected the airport's international arrival and departure terminal in accordance with the health ministry's guidelines on the disease.
They also checked if pointers on the virus and its symptoms had been displayed on a prominent notice board at the airport and circulars on the virus are present for distribution among passengers in the arrival terminal.
