Lodge FIRs against aviation officials, court tells cops

Mumbai: An Andheri metropolitan court has asked the local police to register an FIR against the top officials of Mumbai International Airport Pvt Ltd (MIAL), Airports Authority of India (AAI) and Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), and to start investigation in to the alleged illegalities surrounding the multi-level car parking (MLCP) at Terminal 2 of Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA). The MIAL has not commented on the issue.
Vishwas Bhamburkar, the complainant in the case, has alleged that while BCAS norms clearly state that there should be a distance of at least 100m between the terminal building and parking area, the rule has been violated during the development of the new terminal building. He said MLCP is a part of the terminal building, and that such a glaring security lapse was not only allowed at the time of construction, but commercial operations were started despite the MLCP not having any security clearance from BCAS.
