51-yr-old goods smuggler nabbed by airport police

A 51-year-old agent, who used to smuggle goods between India and Dubai, has been arrested by airport police officials. According to the cops, the accused is part of a bigger racket. The perpetrator has been identified as Rajesh Nanuram Sirangi, a resident of Ulhasnagar in Thane district. His accomplice Kishorbhai working at Alfa Travel Agency in Thane, who helped him to make the bogus visa, is yet to be arrested.
Police said Sirangi travelled two to three times every month, transporting the goods. On Sunday evening, he was supposed to travel to Dubai on a SpiceJet flight with garments that he would sell there. However, sleuths from the Intelligence Bureau (IB) caught him after his visa turned out to be fake. Later, he was handed over to the Airport police station.
Senior police inspector Sanjay Kurundkar, in-charge of Airport police station, told Mirror, "We have arrested him for offences under sections 420 (cheating), 467 (forgery), 471(using forged document as genuine) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Investigations have revealed that he got the forged visa from his accomplice, Kishorebhai."
