Madurai: With Jet Airways launching a new day-flight to Bengaluru, Madurai residents are now better connected to the electronic city with two flight services between the destinations. Earlier, only Air Pegasus was operating a flight to Bengaluru.
With only two night express train services to Bengaluru, passengers from Madurai were forced to rely on omni buses which used to charge exorbitant rates of around Rs 1,500 for a one-way trip.
The new flight service is expected to provide major relief to the passengers as there is a huge demand for transportation between Madurai and Bangalore. With the new flight service, passengers can reach Bengaluru within 90 minutes by paying around Rs 2,000 to Rs 2,200.
R Selva Ganapathy, who travelled on the first flight service from Bengaluru on Sunday, said that a large number of IT professionals and industrialists from Madurai had shifted to travelling by car because of a lack of adequate bus and train facilities.
