Jet Airways to offer lower fare in lieu of miles, lounge benefits

Mumbai: Jet Airways is unbundling its fares to allow its customers to opt for a lower fare in lieu of benefits such as lounge access or bonus miles.

The product called Fare Choices will be launched on August 17 and will allow customers to choose from eight fare slabs - higher fare levels guaranteeing customers bonus miles, lounge access, seat upgrade options, priority check-in and waivers in cancellation and date change fees.

All passengers will be entitled to free meals and baggage allowance irrespective of the fare selection. The airline said fares it offers will remain dynamic and can not comment on pricing when asked about possible reduction in fares with the product launch.

Jet Airways senior vice president (sales and marketing) Colin Neubronner said that the product will enable the airline to compete effectively with low cost airlines in the market. "We have tailored a product which suits different customer requirement," he said adding that the airline had drawn on experience form telecom companies who offer different plans for different consumers.
