AI flight delay forces China-bound medical students to return half-way

Thiruvananthapuram: Three medical students travelling from Thiruvananthapuram to China were forced to return, thanks to the callous attitude of Air India authorities. Aparna of Ottasekharamangalam, Keerthana of Paravur and Gopika of Kottarakara along with four other passengers missed their connection flight to Kolkata as the Air India staff failed to provide them alternative arrangement to reach their destination.

The flight from Thiruvananthapuram was delayed by one-and-a-half hours and by the time it landed in Chennai the connection flight to Kolkata had already left. The students had booked tickets by a Chinese airlines flight from Kolkata to China. Apart from denying an alternative arrangement to reach Kolkata the Air India authorities failed to provide accommodation for us, said Aparna.

The third year medical students of Dali University in China were made to spent an entire night at Chennai airport. According to Aparna the airline staff behaved rudely asking them to cancel their tickets to China. “They initially assured to refund tickets to Kolkata and provide return tickets to Thiruvananthapuram. But later they changed stance and we had to spent an additional Rs 3,500 to return home.” she rued. The trio landed in Thiruvananthapuram on Friday evening.
