Kochi: A man from Kerala faced legal action recently for filming and posting a video of an airhostess sleeping in mid-flight. KM Basheer from Kozhikode, also the chairman of the Malabar Development Forum, uploaded the video initially in English on July 31 and in Malayalam on Tuesday after which it went viral. The incident took place on March 27, on the Air India flight AI-998 from Sharjah to Calicut, when the man filmed the air hostess sleeping near the exit-door at the rear end, while the flight was on air.
According to reports, Basheer recorded the visuals on his mobile phone, identified the flight attendant and registered a complaint with the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
But in a twist, the air hostess filed a complaint against Basheer for filming her without permission.
The Nadakkavu police registered a case on August 16. The case was transferred to Karipur police station and he was booked under KP Act 119 (punishment for atrocities against women, taking photos or videos affecting the reasonable privacy of women).
