AAI seeks environmental report for Kolhapur airport expansion

Kolhapur: Commercial flight services at Kolhapur airport will soon become a reality with the Airports Authority of India (AAI) seeking an environment impact assessment (EIA) report on its expansion.
The AAI recently floated a tender on its website and asked people to file the bids online. The assessment will be done in connection with extension of runway with blast pad, RESA, taxiway, Apron, GSE area, Isolation bay, construction of new domestic terminal building, the ATC tower-cum-technical block-cum fire station and other miscellaneous work at the airport. The last date of submission of bids online is November 15.
According to the AAI officials, the tender has been floated for EIA report regarding construction and expansion of Kolhapur airport that includes extension of runway, isolation bay, setting up of RESA, taxiway apron, new domestic terminal building and ATC tower.
The agency that bags the tender will study the feasibility and identify spots where these infrastructural amenities will be constructed. The agency will also study the impact of daily environment, climatic condition at the airport, moisture, sunlight and other factors.
