AAI wants governmnet to bear 30% of expansion cost

The Airport Authority of India (AAI) wants the state government to bear the financial burden to expand Kolhapur Airport. It has expressed the desire that the state government should fund 30% of the total project cost.
The district administration prepared a plan of Rs 270 crore for the expansion of Kolhapur airport, which was presented to the AAI officials on Tuesday in New Delhi.
The meeting was attended by S Raheja, planning and board member of AAI; Pawan Kumar Nagpal, executive director (Western region) of AAI and other officials, besides Rajya Sabha member Sambhajiraje Chhatrapati, MP Dhananjay Mahadik, MLC Satej Patil and district collector Saini.
Mahadik said, "Flights having 40 seats or below can be started from Kolhapur. For the purpose, a team of AAI will visit Kolhapur within a week and make a proposal by October 30."
