Absence of ILS at Indore airport a hazard: AAI

FYI frequent fliers from Indore. Absence of instrument landing system (ILS), a landing aid for pilots, at Indore airport is a hazard according to Airports Authority of India.

The ILS at airport has been dysfunctional since beginning of the year and was to be replaced in June, resulting in several diversions and delays of incoming flights. Over 20 flights have been delayed and at least 10 diverted since June.

Airline representatives have put up their concern with the Airports Authority of India (AAI) but the latter is helpless as despite installing a new device, it cannot be used before consent from Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) comes through.
