AIU officers seize valuables at Mumbai airport

The Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) officers have detected various cases at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai in the last 48 hours and have seized gold chains, gold bricks, diamond studded gold rings, foreign currencies and 176 used iPhones.

“One passenger named Drastamat Vardanyan holding Armenian passport no. BA 2054985 who had arrived from Dubai by EK 500 was intercepted. He was found carrying 1,227 grams of crude gold chain on his person. The gold totally valued at Rs 33,98,238 was seized, passenger was arrested and case was booked,” said Pradnyasheel Jumle, deputy commissioner of customs, AIU.
