City airport taxiing ahead for take-off

A team of experts from the Airports Authority of Indian (AAI) landed at the city's airport on Wednesday to gather information on infrastructure and facilities required for license to operate flights.
The two-member team, which will complete the survey by Thursday evening, will submit its report to the higher authorities, which will put forward the demand to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) soon.
The team examined the condition of the compound wall, fence and the runway, besides conducting a study to find out if there is any need to expand the runway. It also surveyed the trees surrounding the airport area and whether they would create any obstruction to flights, said a source close to the airport.
