Govt check on high-rises planned near airports

In a meeting with minister of state for civil aviation Jayant Sinha in New Delhi, chief minister Vasundra Raje promised that the government would not approve high-rise buildings near airports in Rajasthan.

The no objection certificate (NOC) to construct buildings near Jodhpur, Jaipur and Udaipur airports will be issued only in special cases after consulting the security aspect with the district administration.

Discussions were also made to construct a VIP terminal near the state hangar in Jaipur. For the same, the state has promised to allocate land to the Airport Authority of India (AAI).

A day before, a meeting, chaired by Jaipur development commissioner (JDC) Shikhar Agarwal, had sought the order on colour coded zoning map (CCZM) from the state government. The map would enable local bodies to approve height clearances for buildings proposed near airports.

At present, as per the building bylaws of Jaipur Development Authority (JDA), builders have to seek the approval of AAI to construct structures within the 20km radius of an airport.
