Port Blair: The work of new Airport terminal of Veer Savarkar International Airport, Port Blair is running behind schedule. The work awarded to Era Infrastructure, a company based in Delhi, by Airport Authority of India (AAI), way back in 2014 is now closed down. According to Director, AAI, Mr. G.K. Gare the company has completed only 2 to 2.5% of work in two years and there is no progress.
“We have terminated the contract in June, 2016 and now it is under arbitration clause in Headquarter, Delhi. We have faced time loss of two years which is serious,” said the General Manager, Mr. N. Prabhu Dev.
He said the new tender has already been floated and requalification will be on 3rd Nov, 2016 and subsequently work will be awarded. The time period for the completion of work will be 42 months.
He said that the revised project costs is Rs. 405 crore and the structural concept of proposed International terminal building is column free large span structure in steel with curtain glazing facia.
