Prepaid taxi kiosk at Chandigarh International Airport soon

Chandigarh: A Prepaid taxi service monitored by the local police, on the lines of Delhi International Airport, will soon be launched at the Chandigarh International Airport. The Mohali administration has written to the Chandigarh airport authority requesting that Mohali Taxi Union be provided space at the airport to start the service.
“We have received permission from the administration. Now the airport authority has to provide us space for setting up a kiosk inside the terminal,” said Inderjeet Singh, who heads the Mohali Taxi Service Union. He said the rates are being finalised, but, added that it was likely to be Rs 400-500 to any destination in the Tricity.
Currently, there are two taxi operators at the airport. One charges a flat fare of Rs 750, and another operators charges Rs 14 per km. There is a CTU bus service every half an hour, with the buses doing the rounds, alternating between destinations in Sector 17, 43 and PGIMER in Chandigarh. The Mohali Taxi Union too is operating at airport, but, they are not allowed to set up any kiosk at the terminal.
