15 flights cancelled, 2 land at Srinagar airport

Srinagar: The flight operations at Srinagar Airport that were hit by poor visibility for past two days, resumed partially this afternoon after slight improvement in visibility.
A senior official told Excelsior that visibility improved slightly this afternoon at Srinagar Airport and two flights, one each of Vistara and GoAir landed and later took off. However, 15 other flights were cancelled due to poor visibility.
The official said that Indian Airlines flight also came at 2:15 p.m but was hovering over Srinagar and could not land at the airport due to poor visibility. He said that the flight went back without landing.
In the meantime, the minimum temperature across the Kashmir continued to hover below the freezing point. However, there was slight improvement in the night temperature at few places and weather at many places across Kashmir was foggy.
A Meteorological Depar-tment official said here that the minimum temperature at most places increased slightly but it remained below the freezing point.
Kargil town in Ladakh region was the coldest recorded place in the State as it registered the low of minus 8.4 degree Celsius, a degree up from the previous night’s minus 9.2 degree Celsius.
The night temperature in Leh town also increased from minus 8.4 degrees Celsius yesterday to register the low of minus 7.9 degree Celsius.
