Air India flight makes emergency landing in Kochi

An Air India Express flight, bound for Dammam, made an emergency landing at Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) on Wednesday evening following an instance of suspected fire. The emergency landing was made at 7.20 pm.
A spokesperson from CIAL said that the flight, which had left the Mangalore airport, took a diversion of route and made an emergency landing at CIAL owing to suspected fire.
"The plane was rerouted to CIAL as Air India has an engineering base here. All the passengers are safe and the flight is expected to leave for Dammam Wednesday night itself after due technical checking," said the spokesperson.
