FSTC Gurgaon gets India's first ATR 72-500 Simulator

In a development that would be a major benefit for the country's civil aviation industry, Flight Simulation and training Center, Gurgaon (FSTC) has acquired India's first ATR 72-500 full flight simulator.
FSTC officials informed that this will be the first of its kind simulator not just for the country but South East Asian region. The simulator will be commissioned in November this year and FSTC will be getting it certified by the European Air Safety Agency (EASA) and Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) India.
"The aircraft is widely used by airlines such as Air India and Jet Airways. But there are no training centres for the aircraft in the region which costs the airlines a lot of money and time in training their pilots. We are hoping that the simulator once commissioned would help the airlines cut down on training time and cost," said Capt Dilawar Singh Basrao, director FSTC.
He added that with the current government's focus on regional connectivity through smaller airports, there would be a greater need for ATR 72- 500 aircraft as it is the most economical option in the smaller aircraft category.
