Heavy fog in city affects flight ops

The advent of foggy weather conditions has started affecting flight operations at city's Jay Prakash Narayan International Airport (JPNIA). None of the flights could land at the airport before 11am on Tuesday owing to poor visibility. Several morning flights were delayed, but none cancelled.
On Monday as well, flight operations commenced after 10:30am after the visibility requirements were met. "We are allowed to operate flights only when the visibility is at least 1200 metres. However, these days the visibility is less than even 400 metres till 9am. The visibility was less than 200 metres till 8am on Tuesday," said an executive of a private airlines at the airport.
