Panaji: The international greenfield airport at Mopa will not only be useful for commuters, but will also benefit the farmers of Goa, said chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar on Tuesday.
"Over the years, initiatives taken up by the Goa state horticultural corporation limited (GSHCL) have opened up avenues for farming in the state, but farmers have benefited very little, so far. For more profit, they should expand their market and export their produce," the chief minister said. He was speaking at an event in Panaji.
"Farmer produce, which requires to be supplied to neighbouring states or exported, will not be imposed with additional costs. This is because there will be no flight restrictions on airlines at the Mopa airport at Mopa. Goa's horticulture, floriculture and fruticulture will thus benefit from this," he added.
