Parrikar slams Opposition for causing confusion over Dabolim

Parrikar was addressing a gathering at Upasnagar in Sancoale on the occasion of Vijay Sankalp Mahamelava of Cortalim constituency. The meeting was attended with over 4000 people from Cortalim. South Goa MP Narendra Sawaikar, MLA Nilesh Cabral, Michael Lobo, BJP State President Vinay Tendulkar, and several other leaders addressed the meeting.
“The opposition leaders have been trying to confuse people of South Goa in the name of Dabolim airport only for political mileage, but I again guarantee the people of South Goa that Dabolim airport would remain even after Mopa,” he said and added, “People should also know a fact that Dabolim airport cannot take more load of passenger traffic which has already crossed 5.5 million passengers annually. We required Mopa as Dabolim cannot handle more passenger traffic.”
On the BJP’s failure to rehabilitate Zuarinagar slum dwellers, he said, “Though the BJP had promised rehabilitation for Zuarinagar slums, it could not be fulfilled due to some reasons. Therefore, I now promise the Zuarinagar slum dwellers that the BJP will give priority in fulfilling this assurance, that after 2017 polls.” He also claimed that earlier, goondaism in Cortalim was at its peak, however after BJP came to power, the same has been curbed extensively.
Sawaikar praised Alina for taking up peoples’ issue and developmental projects including much needed road over bridge in Cansaulim that was pending since last two decades.
