Pune airport gets a revenue jetlag

Pune Airport’s revenue figures have dwindled far behind according to the the data provided by the Airport Authority of India (AAI). A Right to Information (RTI) query has revealed that the Pune airport is not only lagging behind among metro cities but also tier-II cities like Lucknow.
AAI’s data revealed that Pune Airport earned Rs 117.26 crore in 2015-16, whereas Lucknow earned Rs 213.89 crore. However, the data showed that Pune’s earnings are much higher than Patna, Bhopal and Dehradun.
Dhairyashil Vandekar, ex-chairman of the Pune airline operators committee, said, “Lucknow Airport has shown commendable progress in service and creating facilities for the airlines and passengers in the last few years. It was also given the Best Airport award in 2013 by AAI. The revenue generation has also increased remarkably as it is witnessing increasing international and domestic traffic.”
