Surtis want same fare for morning, evening Surat-Delhi AI flights

While Surtis are upbeat over the commencement of Air India's (AI) Airbus morning service between Surat and Delhi starting from December 1, social groups crusading for the air-connectivity to keep the one-way tariff of the morning Airbus to the Airbus being operated on the same route in the evening.
After a series of representation by the airport groups and the Member of Parliament (MPs) from Surat and Navsari, the AI chairman and managing director (CMD), Ashwani Lohani agreed to provide Airbus in the morning schedule between Surat and Delhi starting from December 1.
However, the passengers were unhappy when they started the online advance bookings, which showed the Airbus morning fare by almost Rs 2,500 to Rs 3,000 more than the Airbus being operated in evening.
In October 2015, the AI management was given bank guarantee worth Rs 3 crore by the textile industrialists for commencing Airbus operations between Surat and Delhi. It was agreed that the AI would keep the airfare at the fixed rate of Rs 4,500 till 85 per cent of the occupancy and that the airline was free to sell the excess tickets on their own rates.
Now, the airport groups have been demanding that the fare of both the morning and evening Airbus should be similar and in accordance with the fare charged on the same destinations from Vadodara.
