15 flights cancelled, chaos at Hyderabad airport

Fliers had a harrowing time on Friday with about 15 flights from the city being cancelled, owing to the poor weather conditions in north India. The sectors worst-affected were: Delhi, Chandigarh, Jabalpur and Varanasi. While some carriers managed to continue their services, despite the low visibility , most of them reported a delay of anywhere between one and three hours.More than 12 flights, including those headed for Raipur and Ahmedabad, featured on this list.
The high rate of cancellations and delays had a cascading impact on other routes too (as many of them are connecting sectors) with several services on sectors such as Goa, Bengaluru, Visakhapatnam, Mumbai, Cochin etc either cancelled or delayed. Similarly, the schedule of flight arrivals to the Shamshabad airport here was also severely disrupted. Close to a dozen flights from Delhi, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Chennai among others stood cancelled or delayed - some up to four hours.
"There is total chaos as the airport with passengers running from one counter to the other for informa tion about the sta tus of their flight.
The waiting area is completely chock a-block," said a pas senger waiting to board a flight to Ahmedabad.
