Airline asked to refund money

A consumer forum has directed the managing director of flight carrier SpiceJet Ltd to refund a ticket amount with interest along with providing litigation expenses to a city resident for negligence and deficiency in services.
According to Malar Karthikeyan of Velachery, she had booked a ticket from Chennai to Pune for May 27, 2012 for Rs 8, 416 to attend an official training programme. She reached the airport "well in advance", at 4.05pm against the scheduled departure of the flight at 4.50pm. The personnel of the airlines, however, refused to issue her a boarding pass saying the check-in time had elapsed. The airlines had sold her ticket to someone else at a higher price, said Malar.
