The Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) Wednesday asked carriers Air India, SpiceJet and IndiGo to suspend the pilots involved in the controversy surrounding West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee’s flight delay, news agency ANI reported.
The issue broke out when Banerjee’s IndiGo flight was made to hover over Kolkata even after the plane was reportedly low on fuel. She was flying back from Patna to Kolkata, returning from her rally against demonetisation. Along with her was party vice-president Mukul Roy. Her party Trinamool Congress later caused major uproar in the Parliament and alleged threat to Banerjee’s life while the Centre asserted no one was in danger.
Indigo however clarified that the captain of the flight, at no stage, declared a fuel priority or emergency.
