Unsung heroes on IGI wall of fame

They are the unsung heroes: without their services, your journey won't be as smooth — or pleasant — as it generally is. We're talking of the hordes of workers involved in keeping the Indira Gandhi International Airport clean, right from watering plants, spraying insecticides, cleaning windows to sweeping the floor. Ahead of Republic Day, IGI has launched a special campaign called 'Delhi Airport Heroes' to highlight their contribution.
Each day, a group of workers will feature on social media pages of the airport. The initiative, kicked off on Thursday, will continue till January 27.
"It feels great to be appreciated for the work that you put in each day. It gives us the incentive to do our work better," said Shiv Ram, tasked with watering plants inside the airport. Officials said the campaign had made workers more aware of their duties and the fact that their contribution was being recognised. IGI recorded 48.4 million annual passengers in FY16.
