Drug trafficking: Man from India to know fate April 24

Labuan: An Indian national facing the death sentence for allegedly trafficking in drugs here will know his fate on April 24.
Dhastagir Mohamed Mohideen, 35, was charged in the Labuan Magistrate's Court, Thursday, with trafficking in three kilogrammes of heroin and 3.4 kilogrammes of methamphetamine about 10.50am on Feb 9 at the check-in baggage screening point at the domestic departure hall of Labuan Airport.

He was charged under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, an offence punishable under Section 39B(2) of the same Act, which carries the mandatory death sentence.
According to the facts of the case, Dhastagir was from Mumbai, India, and was on transit at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) before taking a domestic flight to Labuan and was heading back to KLIA the next day.
