‘Name Madhurapudi airport after Balayogi’

A meeting to commemorate the 15th death anniversary of Ganti Mohana Chandra Balayogi, former Lok Sabha Speaker, has resolved to suggest to the government to name the Madhurapudi airport after him. The airport is located on the outskirts of Rajamahendravaram.

At the meeting held at the Kambala Tank on Friday, floral tributes were paid to Balayogi’s statue by MP M. Muralimohan, MLA Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary, Mayor P. Rajani Sesha Sai and party State organizing secretary Ganni Krishna. Mr. Muralimohan said though other names were being considered for the airport, he would speak to Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu to get it named after Balayogi.

If Balayogi were alive, he would have become the President, he said. Balayogi was non-controversial and obedient throughout his carreer. East Godavari district lost a dynamic leader and that gap had not been filled yet.

Mr. Muralimohan said that Mr. Ganni Krishna, who nstalled Balayogi’s bust, should install a full-size bronze statue of the leader, which he would support financially.
