No proposal to have a no fly list for unruly passengers: Govt

The government today ruled out a "no fly list" for the unruly passengers even though it said there were 53 such instances since July last year.

"There is no such proposal in the Ministry," Minister of State for Civil Aviation Jayant Sinha said in Lok Sabha.

The maximum number of instances of passengers behaving in unruly manner were reported by SpiceJet (20), followed by Indigo (12) and AirAsia India (9).

According to the Minister, while full-service carrier Vistara reported six such cases, budget airline GoAir had five cases of unruly passengers reported from its flights.

Jet Airways had one such instance since July, Sinha said in a written reply.

According to the global aviation body, International Air Transport Association (IATA), "unruly passengers" are one of the top three safety issues that concern cabin crew.
