Future path for Air India to be chalked out soon

Mumbai: The future path for debt-burdened Air India may be chalked out soon as Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has stated that his government is open to disinvestment of Air India. The Civil Aviation Ministry will commence internal deliberations to address the issue this week.
The government think tank Niti Aayog is also said to be in an advanced phase of rolling out its recommendations for Air India, reported a leading business daily.
The debt burden on Air India stands at around Rs 50,000 crore.
A top Aviation Ministry source has informed that it will take a stand on taking forward the statement of the FM; the matter of disinvesting in AI, if finalised, will then be taken to the Union Cabinet for approval.
