Indian national nabbed with drugs at KLIA

Sepang: An Indian national was arrested for trying to smuggle more than 8kg of ketamine worth about RM376,650 into the country.

The 38-year-old man was stopped by customs officers after he landed from Kochi, India, at KL International Airport (KLIA) around 7.40am on Sunday.

Customs deputy director-general (GST) Datuk Zulkifli Yahya said a scan of the man’s luggage flagged what looked like drugs hidden in secret compartments inside 54 clutch bags.

“Our investigation revealed that the man was smuggling white crystal powder we believe is ketamine, weighing 8.37kg and worth around RM376,650,” he said at the KLIA Customs headquarters yesterday.

In two other cases, Zulkifli said his department seized large sums of undeclared cash being transported via KLIA.
